Apple Drops Hint on New Desktop Mac Models

As the countdown to Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023 continues, rumors are swirling about the possibility of new hardware being unveiled alongside the usual software updates. Now, Apple has dropped a major hint that new desktop Mac models could be on the horizon, as the Find My app for macOS is referencing three unknown Mac models in its code – Mac14,8, Mac14,13, and Mac14,14.

While the names don’t reveal much, in the past, Apple has used the “Mac 14,x” identifier to refer to Macs running the M2 chip, which could suggest that the new models won’t introduce an M3 chip upgrade. Previous rumors have hinted at a new Apple iMac not being on the cards, but instead, the iMac, Mac Studio, or Mac Pro could be getting a refresh or a combination of all three.

It’s not clear how many new computers we should be expecting from the information, but it’s long overdue for a Mac Pro upgrade, as the current model debuted back in 2019. There have been rumors circulating in this direction for several months, and a new Pro model could even show up with its own special M2 Extreme chip.
